Frequently Asked Questions

How will I feel after treatment?

For some people, their symptoms may worsen for a day or two after treatment - this is the result of the stimulating effects of treatment and will be temporary - it just shows that the body is in the process of healing itself. Drink plenty of water to help eliminate toxins.

What should I wear?

It is important to feel comfortable when having treatments, loose fitting clothes ideal. For Indian Head Massage, a light t-shirt or vest is advised to make it easier for the therapist to manipulate the neck and shoulder area.

Should I use holistic therapies instead of taking medicine or visiting the doctor?

No change should be made to any medication you are taking. Holistic therapies can alleviate and treat many conditions but should not be seen as a substitute for visiting your doctor.

Which ever treatment you are having, your therapist will ask you about any illnesses you may have, past and present, whether you may be pregnant, details of any medication you are currently taking and any conditions you have, such as whiplash, pregnancy, migraine, high blood pressure, diabetes etc. as certain conditions may require referral to a doctor, modification or non-treatment. Any health conditions disclosed will be treated confidentially. No change should be made to any medication you are taking.

What happens in a treatment?

For Reflexology you will be seated in a comfortable reclining chair with bare feet, supported by cushions if required, the foot not being treated will be covered to keep it warm and cosy. Soft lighting and calming music will help you close your eyes and relax. The therapist will begin by massaging your foot to relax tight muscles and ligaments and will then work the reflex areas of the foot using specific pressure techniques.

A person having a Reiki treatment will remain fully clothed and will lie on a massage bed, initially face down, but may be asked to turn to lie either on their side or their back. The therapist moves around the person placing their hands on or just over the body in a series of positions, including the person's chakras.

You may feel a variety of sensations when having Indian Head Massage - warmth, coolness, tingling, possibly seeing colours or just an extremely relaxing feeling. Because the treatment boosts the healing system of the body and sends energy through the body, sometimes a treatment can bring long standing emotional issues to the surface. Any emotional feelings should not disturb you and should be seen as a release which will pass, enabling a sense of inner peace and a healthy state of mind and well being.
